Who are we?
The Bolton Woods Centre is a vibrant hub at the heart of the Bolton Woods and the wider BD2, BD18 area.
We’re more than just a space, we’re a home for connection, support, and opportunity.
Our services are as varied as the community we serve, including food-based activities, a warm and welcoming space for residents to socialise, youth-focused programs, outdoor adventurous play, and intergenerational activities that bring people of all ages together. We also provide access to wider support services, offering advice and guidance for those who need it.
Our Story -
In 2022, The Bolton Woods Centre proudly reopened its doors after being closed for six years, thanks to the vision and dedication of Janet Jewitt and the Play Bradford team, a community-focused organisation. Recognising a pressing need within the Bolton Woods community, Janet spearheaded efforts to bring the centre back to life.
The journey began with a small grant from The WISHH Health Partnership, which provided the initial spark to relaunch this vital community hub. Since then, the centre has gone from strength to strength, thriving with the invaluable support of other organisations, including Bee Well Connected CIC and All Star Entertainment.
Today, the Bolton Woods Centre has blossomed into a lively, inclusive gathering place for residents of BD2, BD18, and surrounding areas. It stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration, diversity, and a shared commitment to building a stronger community.
Since our revival, The Bolton Woods Centre has gone from strength to strength. In 2024, we secured vital funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, enabling us to hire a dedicated team, including a Centre Manager, Project Coordinator, and Caretaker. These roles have helped us take our services to the next level, ensuring we can meet the growing needs of our community.
We were also thrilled to receive £200,000 from the BD25 City of Culture initiative. This funding allowed us to give the centre a much-needed facelift and refurbishment, transforming it into a modern, fully-equipped space:
