Programme and Community Engagement Lead


15 hours per week | £14,430 per annum
Fixed Term – 1 Year

Are you a creative organiser with a heart for people? We’re looking for someone to lead and deliver engaging, inclusive programmes that inspire and empower. From arts and music to workshops and sports, you’ll be designing and running activities that bring our local community together, improve wellbeing, and build new opportunities.

You’ll also:

  • Develop youth and community programmes (e.g. music, digital, cycling & choir)

  • Grow partnerships with schools, local groups, and funders

  • Lead on funding bids, sponsorships and event promotion

  • Work closely with residents, volunteers and Centre staff to shape our offer

Community Youth & Engagement Workers x2


Flexible hours (5–15 per week) | £12.21 per hour
Zero Hours Contract

Are you someone who enjoys working directly with young people and the community? We’re looking for friendly, motivated people to help us deliver creative, social, and physical activities that build confidence and connection. Whether you're into music, digital media, sports, or just great conversation—this role is for you.

You’ll:

  • Support youth sessions and creative workshops

  • Help deliver our music, radio, cycling, and social programmes

  • Build strong relationships with local families

  • Be a positive presence in a busy, welcoming centre

What’s Involved?

  • Attend a minimum of four board meetings per year

  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making

  • Ensure legal and financial compliance

  • Act as an ambassador for The Bolton Woods Centre in the wider community

  • Optional involvement in events or sub-committees

Volunteer Opportunities at The Bolton Woods Centre

 

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community?

Join our dedicated team at The Bolton Woods Centre and help us deliver impactful youth and elderly sessions, run our vibrant café, and maintain our beautiful garden!

 

About Us:

Bolton Woods Centre is a community hub that offers a variety of programs and activities designed to enrich the lives of local residents. From educational workshops to recreational events, we strive to create a welcoming space for everyone. Our brand new café area and garden are popular spots where members of the community can relax, socialise, and enjoy delicious refreshments.

 

Volunteer Roles:

 

Youth and Elderly Session Assistants:

Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of engaging activities for youth and elderly groups.

  • Assist staff with setup and cleanup of session materials.

  • Engage with participants, ensuring they have a positive experience.

  • Help with administrative tasks related to session planning and execution.

Skills Needed:

  • Friendly and approachable demeanour.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages.

  • Enthusiasm for community engagement and learning.

 

 

Café Volunteers:

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and serve customers with a smile.

  • Prepare and serve a range of food and warm drinks.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the café area.

  • Assist with stock management and restocking supplies.

Skills Needed:

  • Customer service skills.

  • Ability to handle cash transactions (training provided).

  • Basic food preparation skills (training provided).

  • Attention to detail and cleanliness.

 

Garden Volunteers:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance of our community garden.

  • Keep lawn nice and tidy.

  • Clear of any litter.

  • Plant, water and weed garden plants.

  • Help organise gardening workshops and events.

Skills Needed:

  • A love for gardening and the outdoors.

  • Basic knowledge of plant care (training provided).

  • Physical ability to perform gardening tasks.

  • Enthusiasm for environmental sustainability and education.
